Recent Books

I guess we have been remiss in posting lately.... our lives have become even busier than ever! The books we have been reading are Breath, Eyes, Memory by Edwidge Danticat, The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton, Animal Farm by George Orwell, and The Godfather by Mario Puzo.

The Trivia Maven......

Okay, I have to acknowledge the fact that I did have some pretty stiff competition, however I was able to pull out a victory. Alas, my glory was short lived....our "dude" was so upset at having lost shamefully to me (even though he is kind of a librarian) he rushed home to give me a slice of humble pie by kicking my butt on The Ultimate History Quiz. It was just what I needed to restore my ego to acceptable size. Thank you "dude".

Congratulations to Jen for being our book trivia maven! Of course, it doesn't hurt that she is just naturally competitive. Can you believe we've been a group for more than four years now?

I was wondering how far everyone has gotten in our October reading and if I'm the only one that hasn't even started yet. Yikes! :-(

The Book of Air and Shadows

We just finished discussing The Book of Air and Shadows by Michael Gruber. It was a long book - and not one of us actually finished it, but not because it wasn't interesting! I was hooked by the first few pages. Any book that has adventure, book binding, copyright laws, and librarians all involved in the plot is a book for me! And Gruber's writing is captivating. Except for the chapters with the old English. Those are a bit tedious. But kudos to the research it took to do that! So will I finish it? Absolutely!
